The first six pictures are from the El Paso Energy project near Raton, New Mexico. The padder made one pass over a larger pipe that is under the pipe and cable that are visible in these pictures. The next layer of dirt protects the cable and the smaller pipeline from rocks that could cause damage.

One of the W.C. Striegel Padding machines is shown here working in the Piceance Creek area in Colorado. The machine seperates large rocks from dirt and puts the remaining "fines" onto the pipeline, protecting it from larger rocks that may damage the coating.
